The Perry Art Park: Phase 2 is under construction!
Located behind the bluffs of Highland Park Elementary School and flanking Balcones Drive sits the new Perry Art Park, featuring a winding trail leading to Dayton, a sculpture by artist Jim Huntington, on long-term loan from The Contemporary Austin – Laguna Gloria.
The Friends of Perry Park are pleased to announce that fundraising was successful and construction will begin shortly on the Phase 2 installations! Many thanks to the Austin Parks Foundation, the HWPBANA, and local residents and businesses for their generous donations to this unique public art project.
Phase 2 will see installation two more sculptures on permanent loan from The Contemporary Austin: Blue Float by Peter Reginato (shown below) and Alas #IV by Betty Gold (information on the sculpture and artist is here ).
Many thanks to everyone who contributed so generously to Perry Art Park!
Many thanks also go to District 10 Council Member Sheri Gallo for the installation of a picnic table at the north end of the park along Balcones Drive. This is a wonderful spot to enjoy coffee or lunch in a grove of gracious live oak trees.
